Winter is the perfect time to plan a cozy getaway. And what better place to cozy up in than Chicago? Luckily, I live in the city, so I didn’t have to go very far to enjoy a relaxing weekend at the Waldorf Astoria — the ideal spot for such a trip!
I was on the hunt for a hotel that had it all; great reviews, interior style, views, and most importantly, a fireplace in the room (ultimate coziness). I wasn’t sure if I’d find such a place, but I was excited to see that the Waldorf offered that and so much more.

Whether you live in the city and need a relaxing break or you’re visiting from out of town, I guarantee you’ll love this French-inspired hotel and its 14,000 square foot spa! We chose a suite with a terrace and a fireplace (not all the rooms have them) and loved every minute of it.

We even had views of the city from the bathtub!
I maximized my time with the fireplace because I love them and miss having one. When Jorge and I talk about buying a house, one of the main things it needs to have is a fireplace.
Our terrace view overlooking the Gold Coast (one of my fave neighborhoods) was incredible day and night.
I even woke up to watch the sunrise over the John Hancock building.
Not to mention the courtyard looks like you stepped into Paris:
And the lobby looks like this:
They also have two French restaurants. Petit Margeaux is a classic patisserie, perfect for your coffee and croissant fix.
Then there’s Margeaux Brasserie, a 1920s Paris-inspired restaurant that quickly became one of my favorite places for Sunday brunch.
I ordered the Margeaux french toast, and it was some of the BEST french toast I’ve ever had. Just look at it!!
Jorge ordered a croissant eggs benedict, and it was also one of his favorite benedicts he’s ever had. They also had live music for their Sunday brunch, which was lovely.
We’ll be going back for more of all of this ASAP.
We both enjoyed our stay at the Waldorf. If you’re visiting from out of town, the hotel is located in one of the best areas in the city and within walking distance to many attractions. Traveling during the summer? I recommend taking your camera around the Gold Coast, where you’ll find some of the prettiest facades Chicago has to offer. If you’re visiting during the wintertime, this post is a complete guide on things to do in December/Christmas.

Oh, this hotel looks so gorgeous! I love the bath and the fireplace. We haven’t been to Chicago but it’s been on our list for awhile. We’ll have to look into staying here when we finally visit the city!
And yes, that French toast looks AMAZING.
Thank you Louise! Hope you get to visit soon, it’s such an awesome city 🙂
I used to walk by the Waldorf all the time with my dog – love the exterior architecture and of course, the inside is wonderfully decadent – especially the fireplace in the room – I’d never leave!
Haha I didn’t want to leave, I wanted to bring it with! I loved the exterior as well, picture perfect spot. 🙂
