If you spend more than one day in Naples, Italy, then a day trip from Naples to Procida is easily doable and worth it.
Procida is a tiny island in southern Italy near Ischia in the Bay of Naples. If you look at the map, you’ll see just how small it is compared to its neighbors. On the sunniest and hottest day, we managed to do the day trip in under 5 hours.
The island is uniquely beautiful and perfect for anyone who loves to capture colorful landscapes. Below, I’ll share the simplest way to get to Procida from Naples.

Naples to Procida
With these easy steps, you’ll be able to get to Procida from Naples by ferry in under one hour. There are two ports in Naples that offer several ferry times to Procida. Those ports are:
- Molo Beverello
- Porta di Massa
These ports are about half a mile or a 15-minute walk from each other.
SNAV and Caremar are the ferry companies that go to Procida. Here is a recent timetable. Prices for a one-way ticket vary from 10 to 20 euros, depending on time and duration.
The faster ferries are generally more expensive, and prices also go up during peak times. Depending on the ferry you book, the trip could take about 40 minutes to an hour, and the same goes for the return trip.
I believe all of these ferries are headed toward the much larger island of Ischia but stop at Procida on the way. Some ferries also have room for cars if that’s something you are interested in.
The ferries run from 6 AM to 10 PM. The frequency is variable, but there are at least 1-2 trips every hour.
I would purchase tickets ahead of time (from the link above) so you don’t have to worry about them selling out. Make a note of the port you are departing from so you don’t miss your ferry!

Procida to Naples
There is only one main port in Procida, “Porto di Procida,” where all ferries arrive. You arrive in the central area of the island, and most everything is walkable from there.
If you do not purchase a return ticket ahead of time, you can buy one near this port before boarding. You’ll quickly spot the ticket booths to the right of all the ferries when you’re getting off.

We bought a one-way ticket to Procida from Naples because we weren’t sure how much time we needed on the island. When we were ready to head back, we just got our return tickets near the port.
When returning to Naples, the same companies offer tickets. The return ferries run from 6:35 AM to 8:15 PM and offer at least 1-2 trips every hour. You can see that timetable here. Prices are similar, at around 10-17 euros.

Things to do in Procida
→ Marina Grande is the main port of the island. Here you’ll find a shopping strip with artisan workshops and souvenir shops. There are also several restaurants to choose from, offering everything from breakfast to dinner.
→ Make your way to the oldest village, Terra Murata, which is the highest point on the island. We made our way up from the port and took tons of photos at different viewpoints along the way. Once at the top, you’ll spot the wonderful picturesque views of the island.
→ Don’t miss the port of Corricella (Marina Corricella)! I made the mistake of being too hot, bothered, and lazy to make my way down there after hiking up to Terra Murata, so I didn’t get any photos of the port. Don’t skip this beautiful fishing village. It can only be reached on foot. Here you can experience the rugged yet colorful homes, crystal clear water, fishermen at work, and several restaurants offering typical cuisine.
→ Depending on the weather, you can take a dip in the sea by visiting one of Procida’s beaches. Chiaiolella Beach is the best-rated one on Tripadvisor.

If you’ve never heard of the island of Procida, I hope you add it to your list. I chose it for the views but fell for its pastel architecture and quiet moments. Sometimes it felt like we had the entire island to ourselves, and I think those are the best places.
WIFI WHEN TRAVELING (EUROPE)
I use Airalo, a digital eSIM that lets you buy data for 200+ countries in minutes. No physical SIM, no kiosks, just install before your trip and connect as soon as you land. It’s usually cheaper than roaming and way more reliable. I’ve used it across multiple trips, and it just works. → Check plans for your destination.
Quick note: Your phone needs to be unlocked (paid off) to use eSIM.
FAVORITE TRAVEL ITEMS I ACTUALLY USE
I’m not someone who overpacks or buys a bunch of stuff “just in case.” Everything I bring has to earn its spot. It has to be lightweight, practical, and carry-on-friendly. Here are a few things that have made traveling so much easier for me:
- Packing cubes → My carry-on lifesaver, plus excellent quality
- Toiletry bag → Small but holds so much
- Camera case → For long walking days
- Sony a6000 camera → Lightweight, beginner-friendly
- Compact tripod → For photos without asking strangers
- Vacuum bags → For cold-weather trips
- Mini travel iron → Works fantastically, nary a wrinkle in sight
